Job Description:
Wesdome Gold Mines is hiring an Underground Safety Advisor to join the Health & Safety team at the Eagle River Mine in Wawa, ON. This role is vital for ensuring underground safety compliance and promoting a proactive safety culture across all crews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct underground safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Monitor work practices to ensure compliance with OH&S regulations and company standards
- Provide coaching and support to underground crews, supervisors, and contractors
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Support implementation of site safety programs, procedures, and training initiatives
- Maintain safety documentation and prepare reports for leadership and regulators
- Collaborate with other departments to improve safety performance and reduce risk
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ underground mining experience (2+ years in a safety-focused role)
- Safety certification (CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent) preferred
- Knowledge of Ontario mining regulations and OH&S legislation
- Experience with underground inspections and hazard assessments
- Strong communication and coaching skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems
- Valid driver’s licence
- Comfortable working in a camp-based, underground mining environment
