Job Description:
Wesdome Gold Mines is seeking a Surface Safety Advisor to join the Health & Safety team at the Eagle River Mine in Wawa, ON. This role is essential for promoting a culture of safety excellence across surface operations, including processing, maintenance, and support services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations
- Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments of surface operations
- Facilitate safety meetings and training sessions for employees and contractors
- Investigate incidents and near-misses; support root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Support hazard identification and control programs
- Maintain accurate HSE records and reporting
- Mentor and coach front-line personnel and supervisors on safe work practices
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams to ensure safety integration
Requirements:
- Certificate/Diploma (or higher) in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a safety advisory role (mining or heavy industry preferred)
- Knowledge of mining/milling operations and relevant safety regulations
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills
- First Aid and H2S certification (or equivalent) an asset
- Proficiency with incident reporting systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to adapt to camp-based living conditions
