Job Description:
Skeena Gold + Silver is seeking a Superintendent, Mining Technology for the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project in northwest BC. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this role is responsible for leading the implementation and management of Skeena’s mining technology program, including Fleet Management Systems, High Precision GPS, Pit Mesh networks, and digital communications. The position plays a pivotal role in the successful execution of Skeena’s Selective Mining Program and requires close collaboration with Production Geology, Mine Engineering, Operations, IT, and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead planning and implementation of mining technology projects: Pit Mesh radio network, HPGPS, Fleet Management Systems, and digital radio
  • Manage selection, procurement, installation, commissioning, testing, and handover of technology systems
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, risk management, and progress reporting
  • Collaborate with vendors and stakeholders to deliver projects aligned with operational needs
  • Act as system owner for all mining technology infrastructure and back-end data
  • Build and lead the Fleet Management team, including dispatch, technicians, and operations engineers
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through visible leadership and adherence to OHS standards
  • Provide technical support, leadership, and decision-making for technology strategy across site operations

Qualifications:

  • Mine Technology Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 12+ years’ experience in open pit mining operations, with at least 5 years in mining technology leadership roles
  • Proven experience with commissioning and operating Fleet Management Systems and HPGPS-enabled mining fleets
  • Strong knowledge of selective mining methods and geological/geochemical data interpretation
  • Skilled in 3D modeling software (Deswik, Leapfrog, Vulcan, or similar)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage consultants, contractors, and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Must be self-directed and able to work independently
  • Valid Driver’s License; eligible to work in Canada
  • Prior remote mining or industrial site experience strongly preferred
