Job Description:
New Gold is hiring a Senior Underground Mine Engineer for the Rainy River Mine in Emo, ON. This camp-based role with travel accommodations provided reports to the Chief Underground Engineer and is responsible for leading the underground engineering team, developing high-confidence mine plans, and driving safety and production improvements. The position also includes mentoring junior engineers and contributing to long-term planning and reporting.
Key responsibilities include leading the underground engineering team, preparing weekly and monthly mine plans, supporting budget and business planning, optimizing grade control, coordinating with geology and geotechnical teams, managing consultants and contractors, and coaching Engineers-in-Training.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or equivalent
- Registered Professional Engineer (PEO) or eligible for membership in Ontario
- 5–7 years of underground mine operations and engineering experience
- Strong background in mine planning, design, scheduling, production, and project management
- Proficiency with Deswik software considered essential
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
- Proven strategic thinking and organizational ability
