Job Description:
Skeena Gold + Silver is hiring a Senior Mine Engineer to join the Technical Services team at the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project. Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, this role is responsible for translating the Long Range Plan (LRP) into executable short- to mid-term mine plans (0–24 months). The Senior Mine Engineer will oversee drill & blast, shovel and placement planning, dewatering, and production reporting—while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
This position includes team leadership, budgeting support, and direct operational coordination, with a focus on optimizing ore recovery, improving efficiency, and supporting safe production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop mine plans (weekly, monthly, annual) that align with long-term strategies and operational objectives
- Optimize designs for ore recovery, waste stripping ratios, safety, and cost efficiency
- Oversee drill & blast design and execution
- Supervise short- and mid-range planning teams (shovel, placement, fleet productivity, dewatering, pit prep)
- Communicate KPIs and provide guidance to operations and technical teams
- Support annual operating plan, budget, and forecast development
- Align short-term plans with annual budgets and LRP targets
- Monitor and report KPIs: truck productivity, material utilization, production, strip ratios
- Ensure accurate and timely mine production reporting (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Oversee weekly variance reports and corrective action tracking
- Monitor and manage dewatering systems for compliance and safety
- Promote strong safety and environmental practices in compliance with Mines Act, permits, and corporate policies
- Provide feedback to Long Range Engineering teams for continuous improvement
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost efficiencies
- Support special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or related discipline (required)
- P.Eng. designation (EGBC registration preferred)
Experience & Skills:
- 7+ years of open-pit mining experience in both technical and production roles
- Proficiency in mine planning, design, and scheduling software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to make data-driven recommendations
- Demonstrated leadership and team supervision experience
- Hands-on project management; start-up/greenfield/brownfield experience an asset
- Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills
- Highly self-motivated, proactive, and effective in team-based environments
