Job Description:
Skeena Gold + Silver is seeking a Field Engineering Manager to join the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project in northwest BC. Reporting to the Construction Director, this role will manage the flow of technical information, resolve site engineering queries, and ensure the constructability of design deliverables. The Field Engineering Manager will lead a site-based team providing engineering support to construction and contractors, acting as the key liaison between the field and home office teams. This is a leadership role that requires strong technical, organizational, and communication skills to support safe, efficient, and compliant project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the flow of engineering information (RFIs, redlines, design clarifications, as-built documentation)
- Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and survey data
- Develop site-specific engineering procedures and technical work instructions
- Support construction execution by resolving technical queries and managing field modifications
- Collaborate with contractors and the Engineer of Record (EOR) to address technical issues
- Participate in site inspections, ensuring compliance with design, quality, and safety standards
- Support procurement and contracts with technical evaluations and vendor interface
- Assist with quantity tracking, cost control, and change documentation
- Provide inputs for forecasting, planning, and progress reporting (daily/weekly/monthly)
- Lead and mentor on-site engineering and document control staff
- Participate in project leadership meetings, contributing to risk mitigation and strategic planning
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mining, Civil, or related discipline)
- P.Eng registration with EGBC preferred
- Minimum 5+ years’ mining experience, with prior leadership in field engineering roles
- Proven ability to manage multiple contractors and stakeholders on complex projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; decisive in technical and operational decisions
- Experience with engineering workflows, document management, and contractor coordination
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong reporting capabilities
- Highly self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a camp-based setting
