FIFO Shift Schedule: 15 days on / 13 days off, site-based camp role at Eskay Creek Mine (Northwestern BC)

Job Description:
Skeena Gold + Silver is seeking an Environmental Compliance Superintendent to support and implement environmental and sustainability requirements at the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and company commitments.

The Superintendent will oversee site-level environmental inspections, permitting, reporting, and the Environmental Management System (EMS). This role works closely with site operations, contractors, consultants, regulators, and Indigenous governments to drive compliance, continuous improvement, and collaborative stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental Management System (EMS)

  • Implement and maintain the site EMS to proactively manage compliance, risks, and performance
  • Oversee consultants, Qualified Professionals (QPs), and environmental data/records management
  • Identify and track regulatory obligations, embedding them in operational practices

Compliance & Reporting

  • Lead completion of compliance reports and regulatory submissions
  • Analyze, interpret, and communicate environmental data to inform site management
  • Support sustainability and ESG metric tracking and reporting
  • Support site audits, external assurance, and improvement tracking

Operational Support & Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations to align daily work with compliance requirements
  • Translate obligations into clear operational tasks to support readiness
  • Participate in environmental aspects of emergency response planning

Leadership & Team Development

  • Act as site environmental lead in absence of the Environmental Manager
  • Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to environmental and operations teams
  • Manage team resources, schedules, and budgets to meet site needs
  • Lead cross-functional compliance initiatives to standardize practices

Reclamation & Indigenous Engagement

  • Support implementation of reclamation and closure plans, including research and monitoring
  • Build strong relationships with the Tahltan Central Government and Indigenous partners, embedding governance and values in site programs

Data & Records Management

  • Maintain accuracy and compliance of site environmental data and records

Other Duties

  • Perform additional responsibilities as reasonably assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in environmental science, engineering, or related discipline
  • Eligible for or registered as a Qualified Professional (e.g., P.Ag) preferred

Experience & Skills:

  • 6+ years environmental management in mining or related industries
  • Broad-based experience with water quality, ML/ARD, construction monitoring, and contractor management
  • Strong knowledge of BC and federal legislation and permitting processes
  • Proven regulatory reporting and government relations experience
  • Demonstrated leadership implementing EMS and compliance frameworks
  • Experience collaborating with Indigenous governments and communities
