Job Description:
Skeena Gold + Silver is seeking a Blaster’s Helper to support open-pit drill and blast operations at the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project in northwest BC. Reporting to the Supervisor, Drill & Blast, this role assists with blast preparation, loading, initiation support, and post-blast activities while maintaining strict safety and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with loading, stemming, and tie-in of blast holes
- Safely handle, transport, and store explosives and blasting materials
- Prepare blast areas and verify drill hole conditions prior to loading
- Maintain clean, secure blast zones and magazines
- Participate in pre-shift meetings, JHAs, and safety documentation
- Communicate clearly with blasters and supervisors during operations
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid driver’s license with clean abstract
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an open-pit mining environment
- Knowledge of blasting standards, explosives, and initiation systems
- Strong safety mindset and adherence to site procedures
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating day/night shifts in remote camp conditions
