FIFO Shift Schedule: 15 days on / 13 days off
Pay: ~$52/hour
Job Description:
Skeena Gold + Silver is seeking an experienced Blaster to support open-pit operations at the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project in northwest BC. Reporting to the Supervisor, Drill & Blast, this role is responsible for the safe loading, initiation, and post-blast evaluation of explosives while ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety, and site standards. The position focuses on blast quality, fragmentation, wall control, and dilution management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load, tie-in, and initiate blast patterns per approved designs
- Handle, transport, and store explosives in compliance with legislation
- Apply controlled blasting techniques (pre-split, trim, buffer blasting)
- Complete blast documentation, reports, and misfire records
- Identify and mitigate blast-related hazards (flyrock, vibration, airblast)
- Participate in safety meetings and mentor blaster helpers/trainees
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid BC Blasting Ticket
- Valid driver’s license with clean abstract
- 3–5 years’ open-pit blasting experience
- Strong knowledge of explosives, initiation systems, and blast design
- Ability to work rotating day/night shifts in a remote camp environment
