Job Description:
Maintenance Clerks provide administrative and logistical support for transportation and vehicle maintenance operations at Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert, the northernmost permanently inhabited settlement in the world. Working in a fly-in/fly-out remote camp environment, you’ll support preventive and corrective maintenance activities while coordinating materials, documentation, and supply processes.
This is a rotational, camp-based role with private accommodations and meals provided. The position requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in an Arctic operating environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Transport and Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor with development and maintenance of the yearly PMI plan and schedule
- Raising, managing, reviewing, and closing repair work orders in DRMIS
- Maintaining catalogues of materiel, spare parts, tooling, and providing monthly verification reports
- Managing transportation and maintenance reference documentation in coordination with the Technical Librarian
- Coordinating, ordering, and tracking DND-provided and contractor-furnished materials and equipment
- Minimizing logistical effort by consolidating shipments and reducing individual packaging
- Maintaining accurate records for preventive and corrective maintenance activities
- Keeping all databases and maintenance records current
Qualifications & experience:
- Administrative, supply, or logistics experience in a maintenance or industrial environment
- Experience using DRMIS and Fleet Management Systems (preferred)
- Strong organizational, coordination, and documentation skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a remote environment
- Ability to work rotational shifts and live in a remote camp setting
Employment type: Full-time, rotational (6-month contract)
Compensation: $35.91–$37.80 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week (overtime available)
