FIFO Shift Schedule: 6 weeks on / 6 weeks off
Job Description:
Diesel Mechanics support the operation and maintenance of critical power generation and electrical distribution systems at remote Arctic radar sites across Canada. Working in a fly-in/fly-out camp environment, you’ll ensure site infrastructure remains fully operational through preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs in extreme northern conditions.
This is a permanent, rotational role supporting the North Warning System, offering long-term stability, extended time off between rotations, and comprehensive on-site accommodations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing scheduled and corrective maintenance on power generation and electrical distribution systems
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel engines and related electronic equipment
- Installing and maintaining components in accordance with implementation instructions
- Coordinating activities with Logistics Support System teams and operations command centres
- Traveling between Long Range and Short Range Radar sites as required
- Maintaining accurate records, reports, and documentation
- Working safely and collaboratively in a remote Arctic environment
Qualifications & experience:
- Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic certification (provincial or territorial) or military equivalency (QL5 accepted)
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience maintaining diesel engines and electronic systems
- Diesel endorsement (asset)
- Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in cross-cultural environments and support Indigenous employment initiatives
- Comfort working in remote, Arctic conditions and camp environments
- Experience working in remote camps with limited resources (asset)
Employment type: Permanent, full-time
Compensation: $38.95–$48.68 per hour (overtime paid at 1.5x)
