Job Description:
First Cooks with OFA3 certification play a dual-accountability role in remote camp environments—delivering consistent, high-quality food service while acting as the primary on-site first aid lead. Reporting to the Camp Manager, this position owns daily meal execution, food safety compliance, kitchen operations, and emergency response readiness in isolated settings.
This is a fly-in/fly-out camp-based role supporting remote operations. Meals, accommodations, and travel are provided, along with a travel allowance. Performance expectations are high; operational discipline and safety leadership are non-negotiable.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and serving three daily meals (buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
- Producing baked goods and desserts from scratch
- Developing menus aligned to site preferences and dietary restrictions
- Managing food inventory, ordering, receiving, and proper storage
- Implementing and executing a Food Safety Plan using advanced HACCP methods
- Enforcing FIFO inventory rotation and allergen controls
- Maintaining clean, organized kitchen and food storage areas
- Leading daily toolbox meetings and orienting incoming kitchen staff
- Conducting monthly kitchen and facility health & safety inspections
- Coaching, training, and supervising kitchen staff to safe work standards
- Reporting incidents, accidents, unsafe conditions, and equipment issues immediately
- Providing OFA3 / emergency medical response as required
- Maintaining high productivity and standards over extended shifts in remote conditions
