FIFO Shift Schedule: 4 days on / 3 days off (10-hour shifts)

Job Description:
Environmental Professionals play a critical role in regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship at large-scale oil sands operations. Working in alignment with environmental leadership and site operations, this role is accountable for implementing the Surface Water Management Plan at the Albian Oil Sands site and ensuring surface water quality and quantity activities remain within regulatory thresholds.

This position balances regulatory analysis with hands-on field execution, supporting mine operations and project teams through clear guidance, data integrity, and disciplined reporting.

This is a fly-in/fly-out camp-based role with meals, accommodations, and travel provided. Camp amenities include private rooms, Wi-Fi, fitness facilities, and on-site laundry.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting surface water quality and quantity data using statistical, biological, and hydrogeochemical principles
  • Collecting surface water samples safely and efficiently in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Managing surface water field and analytical data within the EQuIS database
  • Preparing and submitting weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual water-related reports to regulators and internal stakeholders
  • Representing the organization on internal and external water committees
  • Coordinating sampling logistics, including bottle preparation, equipment calibration, and chain-of-custody documentation
  • Maintaining accurate, auditable environmental records
  • Providing cross-functional support across groundwater, inspections, wildlife, and reclamation activities
  • Participating in the 24-hour Environment On-Call rotation and Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) response
  • Supervising students and collaborating closely with environmental team members
