Job Description:
Cenovus is hiring a Student Laboratory Technologist for the Sunrise site near Fort MacKay, Alberta. This fly-in/fly-out position begins in January 2026 and runs for a 12-month term. Camp accommodations and charter flights from Calgary and Edmonton are provided.
The role involves processing samples, assisting with lab analyses, maintaining instruments, documenting QA/QC activities, and supporting compliance with laboratory standards. Students will gain hands-on experience with lab instrumentation and field sampling in a safety-sensitive environment.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a Chemical Laboratory Technology undergraduate program or registered in a co-op/internship program (returning to studies after the term)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Critical thinker, able to work independently in fast-paced environments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Safety certifications required: H2S Alive (prior to arrival), SCBA training provided on site
- Must hold a valid Canadian Class 5 driver’s license (non-GDL) and provide a recent driver’s abstract if selected
