Job Description:
Redpath is hiring experienced Mechanics for the Borden Mine in Chapleau, ON. Reporting to the Mechanical Foreman and Lead Mechanic, this role involves preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and air-operated underground mining equipment, including hoists, compressors, drills, and mobile equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform skilled mechanical diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on underground equipment
- Follow OEM manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software to troubleshoot systems
- Maintain accurate records using mechanical work order systems
- Adjust equipment and replace defective parts or systems to meet manufacturer specifications
- Conduct braking tests and ensure compliance with underground regulations
- Mentor apprentices and new employees
- Comply with Redpath safety systems and Ontario Mining Regulations
Requirements:
- Journeyman Certificate (421A Heavy Duty Mechanic) – required
- Ontario Hard Rock Underground Service Type Common Core (or equivalent) – required
- Minimum 2 years’ underground mechanical experience
- Experience with Maclean, CAT, and Sandvik equipment (scoops, haul trucks, jumbos)
- Welding experience (asset)
- Proficiency with diagnostic software: Texa, Cat ET, Sandvik Toolman, Cat SIS 2.0, Maclean Documoto
- Knowledge of Redpoint & Oracle Fusion systems
- Strong organizational skills and ability to interpret schematics and technical diagrams
