Job Description:
Redpath is seeking an experienced Alimak Mechanic for the Alamos Shaft Sinking & Headwork Project in Dubreuilville, ON. This six-month contract (starting mid-October 2025) involves maintaining and repairing mechanized raise climbers (Alimak) and associated underground mining equipment in a camp-based environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and maintain mechanized raise climbers
- Maintain and repair air and hydraulic drills
- Service and repair Alimak motors, brakes, gearboxes, and control valves using specialized tools
- Perform diagnostics to identify mechanical issues and implement solutions
- Rebuild and maintain hose reels, bean pumps, shafts, bearings, gears, and pinions
- Synchronize gears and check wear limits
- Conduct rigging/slinging of large, heavy components in confined spaces
- Follow Redpath safety systems and ensure compliance with mining regulations
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Journeyman-level trade qualification (college diploma or trade school)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in underground mining equipment maintenance and repair
- Extensive knowledge of Alimak components (G-5 safety device, motors, brakes, gearboxes, etc.)
- Strong rigging/slinging experience in confined spaces
- WHMIS knowledge and ability to follow MSDS procedures
- Pre-employment drug test and criminal background check required
